Bear River Dance Dress Code

The Bear River High School Administration is not trying to inhibit your individual style; however, we do want you to make good choices. Dances should be memorable, but we also want it to be comfortable, safe and show Bruin PRIDE. With modesty and safety in mind, the following dress code guidelines will be enforced. Failure to adhere to the dress code standards will prevent your participation in the event.

Boys Dress Code

  • Suits or tuxedos and dress shoes may be worn.
  • Canes will not be permitted.
  • Shirts must be buttoned up to the second button from the collar.
  • Pants should fit properly on the hip and not sag below the waistline.
  • Shirts must be worn under vests.

Girls Dress Code

  • Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. Excessive cleavage is not allowed.
  • Dress may be backless as long as it is not cut below the navel.
  • Midriffs may not be exposed.   This includes both the front and sides of the dress.
  • Dresses must not have a slit that exceeds two inches above the knee.
  • No pinning will be allowed as an alteration for a dress if without pinning the dress does not meet dress code.
  • Dress hem can be no higher than two inches above the knee. No spandex / pencil dresses or skirts are allowed.
  • Shoes (heels, flip-flops, sandals, etc.) must be worn at all times.

As you shop, please keep these expectations in mind. If you have specific questions about the dress code for semi-formal / formal dances, please see an administrator for clarification.

Attendance/Activities:

  • Homework can be requested from the nurse’s office on the third day of absence only if the student is unable to get assignments from classmates and will not be returning to school the next day. Parents/guardians should call before 10:00 a.m. Homework will be ready to pick up between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. the next day.
  • All routine medical and dental appointments should be made after the end of the school day.
  • In order to participate in co-curricular or extracurricular activities, student must be present in school on the day of the activity. If the activity occurs on the weekend, the student must be in attendance on that Friday before. Athletic exceptions must be verified in advance by District Administration. It is important that students assume responsibility for missing classes.
  • Students are eligible to participate in athletic programs by maintaining a “C” average and good citizenship. An athlete who has an “F” grade in two successive grading periods or two “F” grades in a grading period is ineligible even though he/she may have a 2.0 GPA.
  • Students need to check in with their teachers before leaving class. Participation in rallies, choir practice, band setup, etc., is at the teacher’s discretion.
