Integrated Math 1

Grade Level: 9-12
Repetition for credit: Yes, 2 years (20 credits)
Prerequisite: None
Graduation Requirement: Yes - UC/CSU 'C'
Integrated Math I  is the first course of a three course series which introduces entry level topics in Number & Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Geometry and Statistics & Probability.  This one-year long course satisfies the Common Core Standards for Integrated Math I.  It strengthens and builds on the students’ prior knowledge in middle school math.  This course focuses on algebraic expressions, linear functions, quadratic functions, some basic exponential functions, exponents, polynomials, solving equations, geometric congruence,  proof and construction methods, finding volumes, areas, descriptive statistics, and connecting algebra and geometry through reasoning and proof as well as real life applications.

Integrated Math 2

Grade Level: 9
Repetition for credit: No
Prerequisite: None
Graduation Requirement: No, does count as a math credit
This course focuses on key math content that students need to master in order to be successful in Integrated Math 1.  It is designed for students who seek a better grasp of math concepts prior to enrolling into Integrated Math 1. The main focus of this course is the development of understanding fractional and integer operations, rates of change, linear equations and their different representations, solving one and two step equations, deriving and using basic geometric formulae, and authentic applications of these math skills. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each unit and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. Students will communicate their thinking both orally and in writing and will explore how algebra, geometry, probability and statistics are used in a variety of real life scenarios.
