Prerequisites: 3.5 G.P.A. is recommended. In addition, a teacher recommendation may be used by the instructor if appropriate. There is no summer reading assignment. Once a student and parent commit to enrollment in any Honors  course, the student is required to remain in the class for at least a semester.
 
The purpose of the Advanced Placement course in Psychology is to introduce students to the systematic and scientific study  of the behavior and mental process of human beings and  other animals. Students are exposed to the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major sub-fields within psychology. They also learn about the methods psychologists use in their science and practice. The goal  of AP Psychology is to provide qualified students who wish to  complete studies in high school equivalent to an introductory college course of Psychology. The five content domain areas  are Methods, Cognitive, Biophysical, Developmental, and Social-Emotional.
