Graduation Requirement: Elective
Topics covered will be self discovery, individual learning styles and strategies, the fundamentals of communication, test taking procedures and effective listening methods. The student will orient self to the tutor program by being involved in tutoring observations, role playing and learning ways to assess his/her own tutoring sessions. The student will learn how to be receptive to individual learning modalities and diversity issues and adapt tutoring strategies to fit the needs of the tutee. Students will be required to participate as Peer Tutors during Bruin Hour and/or after school for each semester. Students will be required to complete an application and go through the [application and interview] process to qualify. Grading is based on curriculum, training, tutoring and participation rubrics. Students must complete all requirements to receive a grade. Students will be assigned to instructors based on the area of academic strengths. Students must have a B or above in area of tutorage. By administrative approval only.
