This course of study places emphasis on living organisms, their diversity, which also includes investigation into the patterns of life, both present and past.  Emphasis is placed on cellular aspects; the role of humans; and the problems of preservation and conservation of the natural resources necessary for survival.  Laboratory experiments and demonstrations are performed to enrich the understanding of the subject matter.
